Door-to-door sales by telephone are forbidden on weekends and holidays

From 1er march 2023, canvassing by telephone is prohibited on weekends and public holidays. Moreover, the hours allowed during the week are supervised: not before 10 am, not after 8 pm in the evening. Door-to-door selling by telephone is allowed from Monday to Friday, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm and from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm. However, it is forbidden on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. That is what is in an order in council in the House Official Journal October 14, 2022.

The time frame concerns both persons not registered on the Bloctel list (list offering the free registration of his number to oppose canvassing) and those registered but who are solicited under an ongoing contract. The time restriction does not apply to consumers who have given their "express and prior consent to be called", the trader will have to be able to justify this.

Furthermore, a consumer may not be called more than 4 times a month by the same trader or by a person acting on his behalf.

Finally, if a consumer refuses to canvass on the first call, the trader is obliged to refrain from contacting him for a period of at least 60 days (2 months) from the refusal.

Violation of these rules will result in an administrative fine of €75,000 for a natural person and €375,000 for a legal person.
