You run a food truck? Do you only sell take-out meals? New obligations on the indication of the origin or provenance of meat will apply from 1er October 2023. They concern catering establishments with no consumption room on site and offering only take-out or delivery meals.
Already applied to restaurants, the obligation to provide information on meat extends from 1er october 2023 restaurant establishments without an on-site dining room and offering only take-out or delivery meals. The aim of this measure is to improve information for consumers on the origin of the meat they consume.
Which meats are concerned?
These new obligations include:
- beef;
- minced beef;
- pigmeat, mutton and poultry meat.

Only meat purchased raw by restaurateurs is covered. Those purchased already prepared or cooked are not covered.

The indication of the origin or provenance of pigmeat, mutton and poultrymeat shall be mandatory until february 29, 2024, end of the testing phase of this measure negotiated with the European Commission.
What are the sanctions?
Any failure to comply with these new obligations will expose you to a fine, the maximum of which varies according to your status:
- 1 500 € maximum for a natural person;
- 7 500 € maximum for a legal person.
