The results of the 2023 Barometer of France Num are published!

France Num publish the results of its barometer each year. Against the backdrop of the digital transformation of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), the 2023 edition shows the growing importance of digital technology in company life. The study also found a strong cyber-security fear.

The Barometer France Num aims to present the evolution of the perception and digital uses of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

For the year 2023, the France Num was based on a sample of 9 453 companies, of which 6 110 TPEs (2 056 of them have no employees). They were surveyed between March 9 and April 7, 2023.

The strong impact of digital technology

The barometer's figures show that entrepreneurs are definitely interested in digital technology:

  • 76% of managers surveyed believe that the digital represents a real profit for their company;
  • 51% of companies surveyed (+8 points compared to 2022) now receive at least 5% of their customers online;
  • 39% of companies surveyed (+2 points) considered that digitalization makes money;
  • 48% (+2 points) thought that digital technology could save money.

Doubts and fears persist

The 2023 barometer also shows some areas where digital technology is creating uncertainty and even fear for employers:

  • 48% of companies (+12 points compared to 2020) are afraid of losing or being hacked;
  • 58% of SMEs surveyed (+2 points) do not sell online because they consider it irrelevant to their business or sector of activity;
  • 22% (-6 points) consider it a priority to acquire or improve their company's IT equipment.
