The self-employed worker allowance (ITA) is a replacement income paid to self-employed persons who have terminated their activity definitively and involuntarily (judicial liquidation, etc.).

What are the conditions to benefit from it?

To be eligible for the ITA, several conditions must be met:

  • have been self-employed for at least 2 years for a single company without interruption;
  • have involuntarily ceased to carry on this activity (bankruptcy, administration with replacement of the director imposed by the court, voluntary transfer for economically unviable activity attested by a trusted third party);
  • registration with France Travail as a jobseeker within 12 months of the cessation of self-employment;
  • have received, in respect of self-employed activity, annual income of a minimum amount of €10,000 (€7,500 in Mayotte) over one of the last 2 years of activity;
  • not receive unemployment benefit, full retirement pension or replacement income from another scheme;
  • have personal resources lower than the amount of the RSA (€ 646.52 for a single person).

If you have already benefited from the ITA before, a waiting period of 5 years applies before a new ITA application.

What is the amount of the ITA?

The amount of aid paid is custom on the basis of the income received by the self-employed person in respect of his activity on 24 months prior to termination.

Currently, the amount of the allowance for self-employed workers is between €19.73 and €26.30 per day (between 600 and 800 € per month).

In Mayotte, this amount is between €13.15 and €19.73 per day (between 400 and 600 € per month).

Payment of this aid shall be limited to a period of 182 days, about 6 months.
