What is a professional interview?

Every 2 years, the professional interview is an appointment obligatory between employee and employer. It is also an obligation when the employee returns from certain leave periods. This interview is intended to look at career prospects and the training that can contribute to this. The employee may be assisted in preparing for this interview by a Career Development Advisor (CPD). The employer may be penalized for failure to comply with this obligation.

The employee and the employer are involved in the job interview.

Must receive a professional interview all employees in all companies and all business lines:

  • Whatever the nature of the contract (fixed-term or indefinite, apprenticeship or professionalization)
  • Whatever the working time provided for in the contract (whether the employee is full-time or part-time).

The employee is informed of the interview at the time of his employment in the company.

The job interview aims to accompany the employee in his outlook professional development, in particular in terms of qualifications and employment.

This interview should include information on various points:

This evaluation shall be carried out within the framework of theannual interview.

However, the professional interview may be held on the same date than evaluation interviews.

There are 3 periodicities.

Every 2 years

The professional interview must take place every 2 years:

  • From the date the employee enters the company
  • Then from the date of the previous interview.

One collective company agreement or branch may provide for a different frequency of professional interviews.

When some holidays return

The professional interview must be systematically offered to the employee when he returns to work after a period of interruption due to one of the following cases:

The interview may take place, at the employee's initiative, on a date prior to the resumption of the post.

Every 6 years

Every 6 years, the job interview takes stock of the employee's career path.

This period shall be determined taking into account the length of service of the employee in the company.

This inventory makes it possible to verify that the employee has actually benefited from the professional interviews scheduled for the last 6 years.

It is also intended to ensure that during this period the employee has:

  • Follow-up of at least one training action
  • Acquired elements of certification through training or validation of experience
  • Benefited from a salary or professional progression.

A written report shall be kept on the state of play. A copy shall be given to the employee.

One collective company agreement or branch may provide for different assessment procedures of the course during this interview carried out every 6 years.

The employee may for free seek the assistance of a career development advisor or use a skills operator.

The employee may for free to call upon the services of a career development advisor (CPD) to prepare for this interview.

The employee may:

  • Taking stock of your professional situation and skills
  • Be supported in your professional projects.

L' Skills Operator (OPCO) provides tools for the employee to prepare for this interview. These are:

In the event of non-compliance with its obligations, the employer may be penalized. A distinction must be made between employers employing less than 50 employees and those employing 50 or more.

Company of 50 or more employees

If the employee has not received professional interviews and at least one non-compulsory training action during the last 6 years, the employer must personal training account (PTA).

The employee's CPF is then credited with €3,000.

Company of less than 50 employees

The employer is subject to training obligations: adaptation of the employee to his job and maintenance of his employability.

As such, in case of litigation, it could be sanctioned in case of non-compliance with these obligations. This penalty may result in the payment of damages to the employee.
