Research on plant and animal species protected by the CITES Convention

This online service can be used as a search tool (without the need for registration) to find out if a plant or animal species is protected.

You can search by taxa (species name) and by country.

If the species is protected, it is subject to a certificate or permit import into the European Union and export. The site is also used to apply for a certificate or permit.
