The 28the The European Week for Employment of People with Disabilities (SEEPH) takes place from Monday 18 to Sunday 24 November 2024. The objective of this event is to bring together companies, politicians, associations, civil business and job seekers with disabilities and to propose concrete actions to facilitate recruitment. This week is an opportunity to learn about the various measures put in place to facilitate the professional integration of persons with disabilities.

All over France, events will be organized to promote meetings between companies and jobseekers. You can consult the list of events.

The theme for this 2024 edition is “Disability and career path: how to ensure true equality of opportunity?”

This theme is not limited to recruitment, various angles will be discussed throughout this week such as:

  • training;
  • prevention;
  • career ends;
  • young people;
  • the protected environment;
  • retraining;
  • support for those furthest from work.

LADAPT, Agriph and FIPHFP unveil the program. The Agriph is organizing for this event more than 300 shares in metropolitan France and the French overseas departments.

Other employment-related actions will also be proposed by the SEEPH (European Disability Employment Week):

  • jobdating;
  • the disabled person;
  • the handi moud'emploi;
  • the coffee shop of success stories.

Employment in the private sector

People with disabilities can work:

  • in ordinary environments (for persons recognized as workers with disabilities, employers having to take measures adapted to their disability);
  • in adapted company (workers with disabilities working there under conditions appropriate to their abilities);
  • in establishment and labor support services (State). These facilities, which allow people to pursue a professional activity while receiving medical-social and educational support in a sheltered environment, host persons who do not have enough autonomy to be in an ordinary environment or in a suitable company.
  • with an obligation to employ disabled workers. An employer with at least 20 employees must employ persons with disabilities as a proportion of 6% of the total workforce. The employment obligation concerns all employees regardless of the nature of their contract.
  • by being recognized as a disabled worker (RQTH). Recognition of the status of disabled worker provides access to measures promoting retention in employment or access to new employment.

Public sector employment

Persons with disabilities can take part in public service competitions and be accommodated to take the tests. They can also be recruited as a contractor and then be established at the end of their contract without having to take competitions.

Training and learning

In addition to the general training arrangements, a disabled person may enter an apprenticeship to obtain a qualification, benefit from special facilities, receive training in a pre-orientation center, receive a re-education contract or take an internship to reaccustom to his former job if he has become unfit to practice his profession, or learn a new trade.
