In order to clarify the regulations on the surface area of advertisements and to “protect the living environment”, a decree of 30 October 2023 specifies the calculation of the sizes of advertising panels.

This decree already modifies the maximum surface of certain advertisements and signs.

In addition, the decree incorporates the jurisprudence of the Council of State (judgment no 395494 of 20 october 2016 and judgment no 408801 of 8 november 2017) and specifies that the calculation of the unit area of the advertisements is assessed by taking into account the entire area of the panel, including the frame.

However, concerning advertisements supported by street furniture, alone the surface of the poster or screen is to be taken into account because the main purpose of the street furniture is not to receive advertising.

Please note

Non-compliant ads and signs that were put in place before November 2, 2023, can be maintained for up to 4 years from that date.
