Heavy goods vehicles: lifting of bans and additional summer bans

The summer dates on which the ban on the movement of certain heavy goods vehicles applies have been fixed. This prohibition will be lifted for certain dates specified by order.

Reminder of existing rules

Goods vehicles with a total permissible laden weight (PTAC) of more than 7.5 tons shall not be allowed to circulate on the whole road network in the following periods:

  • Weekend : between Saturday 10pm and Sunday 10pm;
  • Public holidays : between 10pm the day before and 10pm on public holidays.

Travel ban lifted on May 9, 2024 and additional bans in summer 2024

Travel ban lifted on May 9, 2024

The driving ban on goods vehicles over 7.5 tons will be lifted on thursday, may 9, from midnight to 10 pm.

However, empty return will be allowed on that date.

Additional bans during summer 2024

For vehicles over 7,5 tons of PTAC for the carriage of goods by road, traffic will be prohibited on thewhole metropolitan road network of 7:00 am to 7:00 pm the following Saturdays:

  • 6 July;
  • 20 July;
  • 27 July;
  • 3 August;
  • 10 August;
  • 17 August;
  • August 24, 2024.

Please note

This prohibition shall not apply to:

  • Saturday, July 6, 2024 in the Burgundy-Franche-Comté and Grand Est regions (except for the A6 and A31 motorways in the North-South direction (to Lyon and Beaune, respectively));
  • Saturday, 6 July 2024 in the Hauts-de-France region (with the exception of the A1 and A16 motorways in the north-south direction (towards Paris), which remain prohibited to traffic for these vehicles from their connections with the A29 motorway (south connection for the A16);
  • Saturday, August 24, 2024 in the Burgundy-Franche-Comté and Grand Est regions (with the exception of the A6 and A31 motorways in the South-North direction (to Paris and to the Luxembourg border, respectively);
  • Saturday, August 24, 2024, in the Hauts-de-France region (except for the A1 and A16 motorways in the south-north direction (towards Lille and towards the Belgian border respectively), which remain prohibited for these vehicles until their connections with the A29 motorway (south connection for the A16)).

Lifting of a specific ban in Île-de-France

Lifting of travel bans for freight vehicles over 7.5 tons will also take place between 19 July and 16 September 2024 in Île-de-France and the neighboring departments.

The following are concerned:

  • vehicles transporting exclusively foodstuffs and products intended for human or animal nutrition, hygiene and human or animal health;
  • vehicles for the supply of clean linen and the removal of dirty linen from hotel structures;
  • vehicles transporting waste for disposal.

Please note

Drivers must justify the conformity of the transport carried out in the event of an inspection.
