Taxis: what are the fares and display and commercial obligations?

The prices of a taxi ride, their communication to the customer and the setting of the taximeter are regulated. In addition to this, surcharges and supplements. For some airports, the amount is fixed. One invoice must be given to the customer.
Each vehicle shall be equipped with an illuminated taximeter (or time meter). This device records the journey and indicates the fare charged and the amount to be paid. The device must be visible to customers.
A lighting device shall also be attached to the roof of the vehicle.
This device shall bear the indication Taxi and indicate the local administrative area of the vehicle.
If the taxi is free, the illuminated device shall be visible by day and by night.
Please note
the taximeter and the roof lighting system shall be systematically checked during the annual roadworthiness test of the vehicle.
The marauding electronic is obligatory since december 2021.
The taxi driver must log in to the taxi availability register, called: the.taxi.
This is a database listing all taxis available in a perimeter.
The driver chooses the perimeter.
It can go from 150 meters minimum to 500 meters maximum.
He must meet the request for a race in a time limit of 30 seconds.

Taxi fares include capped fares and surcharges in some cases.
Airport passes apply in some cities.

the new tariffs come into effect on 1er every February, but the driver has until 1er May to apply them. If a change occurs at another time, the taxi has a delay of 2 months to apply the new tariff.
Capped rates
The minimum fare for a trip is €8 for all taxis (Parisians and non-Parisians).
The price of a taxi ride includes 3 elements:
- €4.40 maximum for client support
- €1.27 maximum per kilometer traveled
- €41.06 maximum for the price of the hour in case of waiting of the customer or if the customer has difficulties to move

The price may be rounded up to the nearest euro cent.
Surcharges and supplements
The price per kilometer traveled shall be increased in the following cases:
- Night race (within the limit of 50%)
- Race that requires an empty return (without customer) or that serves a peripheral or external area to the area of the parking authorization (within the limit of 100%)
- Snowy or icy road race (within 50%) if special equipment or snow tires are used
- Rush Hour Race
Increases night race and snowy or icy road racing are not cumulative.
No extra charge, or increase may not be requested from the passenger in the following situations:
- Support in a station, one port or a airport
- Wheelchair a person with a disability

The driver can decide on a discount on the advertised price of the ride.

Guadeloupe
Airport and Grand Seaport
For a trip to the Caribbean Pole airport (in both directions) and to the Grand Maritime Port of Guadeloupe (in both directions), an extra charge of €4 applies per passenger from 5.

For a race at the Bergevin maritime station (in both directions), a supplement of €4 applies per passenger from 5.

Airport packages
Airport passes apply to Paris, Nice, Antibes, Cannes and Toulouse.
Airport, ferry terminal and port packages apply in Guadeloupe.

The amount of the trip is known at the end of the trip.
It must be displayed on the dial of the taximeter in a manner that is legible to the passenger.
Every year, before 1er MayHowever, the taxi driver must update his taximeter to incorporate the new fares of the year.

The letter S colored red must be placed on the dial of the taximeter, from the moment when the fares of the year have been updated by the driver.
Information on fares shall be displayed in the vehicle.
This information includes the following:
- Hourly rate and kilometer
- Amount of support
- Amount and conditions of supplements
- Amount and conditions of the packages, if applicable
- Conditions under which the issue of a note is mandatory or optional
- Information that the customer can request that the note mention his name, as well as the starting and ending places of the race
- Information that the customer can pay the fare by credit card
- Complaint address
A note (invoice) must be given to the customer as soon as the amount of the trip reaches €25 all taxes included (including VAT).
This note must contain certain elements:
- Date
- Race start and end times
- Name of provider or name of business
- Vehicle registration number
- Address to send a possible complaint
- Price of the race TTC excluding surcharges
- Total amount payable incl. VAT
- Each of the surcharges or supplements charged
- Customer Name (if requested)
- Place of departure and arrival of the race (at the request of the customer)
The driver must keep double the note for 2 years.
Below €25 Including tax, the note is optional. However, the customer may request it.
The customer can pay in cash or by credit card regardless of the amount.
The driver may only refuse payment by check, provided that this is indicated on the outer window of the vehicle.
The vehicle shall be equipped with 2 appliances:
- Functioning electronic payment terminal
- Printer, connected to the taximeter, allowing the automated editing of the note informing the customer of the total price to be paid

the tip left by the client is strictly optional.
