What is the Minimum Interprofessional Growth Wage (Smic)? The minimum wage is the minimum gross hourly legal amount that each employee must receive. Special provisions apply for employees who are minors and employees residing in Mayotte. We will explain the terms of the payment and the amount.
General case
The minimum wage is the statutory minimum hourly wage below which the employee cannot be paid.
It applies to any adult employee, regardless of the form of remuneration (time, performance, task, piece, commission or tip).
The employer may be fined €1,500 if the employee is paid less than the minimum wage.
The employer may also be ordered to pay the employee damages.
Please note
These statutory minimum hourly wage provisions do not apply to VRP: titleContent. An employee working under this scheme may be paid, in general, a fixed salary and commissions or bonuses.

As of 1 January
The minimum wage is increased every year to 1er January.
