How do I post a legal ad?

The publication of a legal advertisement is mandatory to inform the public about the main stages of a business' life: creation, modification or cessation of activity. It must be inserted in a medium authorized to receive legal announcements (SHAL): it is either a legal announcements journal (JAL) or an online press service (SPEL).
All businesses (SARL, SA, SAS, etc.) must inserting legal announcements in a media (Shal: titleContent) at the time of their creation and during the cessation of their activity.
They must also publish a legal advertisement in case of alteration in the business: this is the case during a change of leader, a change of business purpose, a transfer of registered office, a capital increase, etc.
Individual business On the other hand, craftsmen and traders who operate asIS: titleContent, EIRL: titleContent, micro-entrepreneurs) and GIE: titleContent are not affected by this obligation.
You must request a publication from a Legal Announcement Log (JAL) or a online press service (SPEL) authorized in the department where the head office of the business is located.

Your publication request must include the following information:
- Name of the business
- Business acronym
- Shape of the business
- Amount of share capital
- Address of registered office
- Social purpose
- Duration of business
- Name(s) of officer(s)
- Indication of the register in which the business will be registered

Advertisements published in online media (SPEL) remain displayed for at least 7 days from their publication on the home page of the site.
After the legal announcement has been issued, the Shal: titleContent provide the business with a certificate of publication.
All advertisements published in the authorized media (SHAL) can be consulted in a central digital database: the company Legal Advertising Portal (PPLE).
There are 2 types of pricing for legal listings:
- or the flat-rate for announcements of formation, dissolution and closure of liquidation
- or depending on the number of characters in the other cases

Package price
The price of a legal listing is set at package (i.e. a fixed amount) in a number of cases. For example:
- Establishment of a business
- Act of appointment of liquidators and notice of closure of the liquidation of civil and commercial businesses in the context of a dissolving
- Judgment opening or closing a collective proceedings (safeguard, recovery and winding-up proceedings)
The price depends on the legal form of the business and the department in which the ad is published.

For limited partnerships (CBSs) and limited partnerships (CBSs), the tariff is not flat-rate.
Since 1er january 2024, a flat rate applies to the following legal listings:
- Resignation for cause, on appointment and termination of office of the auditor of commercial or civil businesses
- Modification of the date of opening and closing of the business year, modification of the date of commencement of business and extension of the commercial businesses
- Transfer of the registered office of commercial businesses, European businesses and planned civil businesses
- Appointment of civil business managers
- Termination of the function of the managers of commercial businesses
- Change in the purpose of commercial businesses and civil businesses
- Reconstitution of the share capital of commercial businesses and civil businesses
- Reduction of the share capital of commercial businesses and civil businesses
- Appointment of the Judicial Administrator of Commercial businesses and Civil businesses
- Sale of shares in commercial businesses and sale of shares in civil businesses
- Transformation of the corporate form of commercial businesses and civil businesses, the transformation of public limited liability companies into European businesses and the transformation of European businesses into public limited liability companies
- Movements of partners in commercial businesses, civil businesses and lawyers' associations
- Change in the name of commercial businesses and civil businesses.

For the following flat rates, when the ads match multiple changes, they are billed by the number of characters.
Price per character
Where a flat rate is not provided for, the price of the legal advertisement depends on its length.
This is the case, for example, in the case of a change of registered office, an increase or reduction in capital, a change in the object of the company, etc.
The rate is then set according to the number of characters in the ad. Multiply the total number of characters in the ad, including spaces, by the price of the character.
The price of the character varies by department in which the seat of the business is located.
