Creation of a professional surveillance card for events of more than 300 people

What is the Major Events Watch Card?

France faces significant private security needs related to the organization of the 2023 Rugby World Cup and the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. In order to meet these deadlines, a professional card was created, on a temporary basis, to carry out the activity “surveillance of major events”.

The surveillance and security activities covered by this new card are limited to sports, recreational, cultural and economic events for more than 300 people.

It is possible to obtain this card by equivalence for persons with:

• a professional certification relating to the activity carried out registered in the national register of professional qualifications;
• a certificate of professional qualification drawn up by the professional branch of the activity concerned;
• evidence of formal qualifications or a certificate of competence relating to the activity concerned which is required by a Member State of the European Union or by one of the States of the European Economic Area.

The specialized “Major Event Monitoring” card does not concern the following activities:

• Alarm management.Conducting surveillance rounds.
• Control of a security checkpoint.
• Surveillance by electronic security systems.

In order to obtain the professional card mentioning the specialty “surveillance of major events”, you must make the request before 1^er september 2024.

This specific professional card is temporary, it will be valid until 30 september 2025.

Incumbents will be able to complete their training to obtain the specialty "human surveillance and guarding".
