ESAP, the future single European access point for public company information

ESAP (European Single Access Point) will be set up as of 2027. This digital platform will bring together financial and non-financial data published by professionals in application of European texts.

Regulation 2023/2859 of 13 December 2023 provides for the establishment of ESAP at European level. This digital platform will be the single point of access to information published by businesses.

In this way, it will centralize the relevant information on companies and their products. This includes information on sustainability, diversity, capital markets and financial services.

Its aim is to provide better access to information and to help potential investors in their decision-making process.

ESAP will be implemented by July 10, 2027.

Please note

The portal will be managed by the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA).

ESAP Features

This portal free will have many features:

  • search for information (by name, size of company, sector of activity, country of head office...);
  • information viewer;
  • machine translation service;
  • notification of new ESAP information;
  • downloading data.

Progressive implementation

The information will be progressively integrated into the ESAP according to the following timetable:

  • Regulation No 236/2012 on short selling
  • Regulation No 2017/1129 on the prospectus to be published when securities are offered to the public or admitted to trading on a regulated market
  • Directive 2004/109/EC on the harmonization of transparency requirements regarding information on issuers whose securities are admitted to trading on a regulated market

July 10, 2028

  • Regulation No 596/2014 on market abuse
  • Regulation No 2019/2088 on sustainability reporting in the financial services sector
  • Directive 2013/34/EU on the annual financial statements, consolidated financial statements and related reports of certain companies (as amended by CSRD 2022/2464 and 2020/852)

July 10, 2030

  • Directive 2014/59/EU establishing a framework for the recovery and resolution of credit institutions and investment companies
  • Directive 2014/65/EU on markets in financial instruments
  • Directive (EU) 2016/97 on the distribution of insurance
  • Directive (EU) 2016/2341 on the activities and supervision of institutions for occupational retirement provision (IORP)
  • Directive (EU) 2019/2034 on the prudential supervision of investment companies
  • Directive (EU) 2019/2162 on the issue of covered bonds and public supervision of covered bonds

Please note

As of 10 January 2030, companies will be able to provide additional information on their own in ESAP.
