A business' business bank account

When creating a business, it is mandatory to open a professional bank account.

Opening a professional bank account allows you to to separate commercial transactions from those carried out by the Head of company in his personal life.

In addition, a business account can provide access to certain rights and benefits exclusively reserved for professionals, in particular a personalized accompaniment by the bank in the management of the account.

A business bank account must be opened to set up a business.

This usually occurs just before registration of the business. Indeed, it is often on this account that the share capital is deposited.

The following documents must be sent to the bank:

  • Request to open a business bank account
  • Executive ID
  • Draft statutes
  • If the activity is carried out in a business premises, proof of use of the premises (example: commercial lease)

The bank then opens a provisional business account on behalf of the company. It also provides a certificate of freezing of funds following the deposit of the share capital.

Once the registration of the business has been completed, a proof of registration so that the funds are released and the business account or permanently opened.

If the bank refuses to open a bank account in the company's name, it must provide a certificate or a letter of refusal account opening.

It is then necessary to approach the Banque de France in order for it to designate a banking institution which shall be required to open a business bank account in the name of the company. This is the so-called "right to account" procedure.
