Allows for the declaration of use or application for authorization of contained use of GMOs for research, development and educational purposes.

Before any application for the use ofGMO: titleContenton the platform DUO, an application for approval shall be made on the basis of the ‘installation approval’ forms to be downloaded from the platform for installations in which such use is implemented.

• The application for approval must be sent by e-mail to labogm@recherche.gouv.fr. For the sending of heavy documents, a link for their submission may be provided on request.
• Upon receipt of a complete dossier, the GMO cell shall allocate a installation number to be indicated when submitting the application file on the DUO application. For subsequent applications, this number shall also be entered in the GMO administrative data sheet.

Depending on the type of use of GMOs, the approach differs:

• For Containment Use 1 : the receipt is equivalent to approval of the installations concerned for a period of 5 years. New Class 1 uses may then be introduced, without notification, at these facilities. A risk assessment should be carried out in advance and made available to the administration.
• For Containment Use 2-4 : CEUCO opinion is required to authorize uses. Once issued, this authorization will be equivalent to the approval of the installations concerned for a period of 5 years.
• For use with containment 2 in an installation approved for installation : A declaration of use can be filed directly on DUO with the corresponding installation references.
