Street trade (non-sedentary)

A street trading business is an activity that involves selling your services or products in an itinerant manner in different places of the public space. This can be a trade on markets or takeaway food (called food lorry). You must apply for a street trading card and a temporary public space permit (AOT). You must register your company at RNE: titleContent.

A trade is said travelling when selling your services or products in one or more different places in the public space.

You exercise this street trading outside your commercial premises or in a place other than your business address.

Examples:

  • Take-away restore in public space (called food lorry)
  • Street Pizza Lorry
  • Forain (trader or fairground with a travelling attraction)
  • Stand on a trade fair or trade fair (agricultural trade fair, etc.)

Warning  

trade travelling does not correspond to a door-to-door activity, this is home canvassing or home seller, press collector, etc.

You have a fixed commercial space

You have a fixed commercial space where you sell products or services to customers.

Your business address is then the one of your fixed commercial space.

At the same time, you sell outside your commercial premises in a mobile store (lorry, stand, etc.).

Example :

you are a restaurant with a fixed restaurant and you also travel with a restaurant lorry either in a market or in a public space.

You do not have a fixed sales office

You trade said travelling by selling your services or products in one or more places different from your professional domicile.

In this case, your business address is usually the same as your home.

You are travelling from one place of sale to another place of sale. Or you sell in a place that's always the same.

Example :

You have a pizza lorry that moves from one place to another (or always placed in the same place), without owning a fixed pizzeria.

Warning  

if you do not have a fixed address for your home, the traffic register and consignment receipt have been deleted.

You must first determine the nature of your business (craft, commercial, liberal, agricultural or industrial).

You must choose the legal form of your company (business or individual business self-entrepreneur).

You need to verify that you are completing the criteria for becoming a trader or becoming a craftsman.

The status of self-entrepreneur is addressed to all types of activity (commercial, craft, liberal, etc.) and requestperform specific formalities.

If you are a craftsman or a trader, you must register RNE: titleContent as a company in the trades and crafts sector.

If you are a merchant, you must register for the RCS: titleContent.

You must complete your company registration process on the company formalities window.

Warning  

From 1to January 2023, it is no longer possible to make your paperwork in a company Formalities Centre (CFE). You have to make them on the website of company formalities window.

The requirement to carry a mobile business card varies depending on your activity and your travel.

You move out of your professional home town

You must have travelling business card.

This card allows you to move outside the municipality of your professional domicile.

You are concerned regardless of your status (craftsman, trader, micro-entrepreneur), whether or not you have a fixed commercial premises.

If you hire an employee who is travelling with or without you, they must have a copy of your card.

The card is valid for 4 years.

It costs €30.

Warning  

For the street sale of alcohol, the street trading card is not enough. You must have sales licence take away. Street selling of hard liquor (rum, vodka, whisky, etc.) is prohibited. If you sell alcohol after 10 PM, you must have a specific training.

How to ask for the card?

You must complete Form 14022.

You must send it (by mail, mail or on the spot) to CCI: titleContent for traders, CMA: titleContent for craftsmen or craftsmen.

The card is valid for 4 years.

You must make the renewal request yourself.

The application shall be made from one month before the expiry date until 2 months after that date. If you exceed this time limit, you must resubmit an initial request.

The waiting time to receive the new card is 15 days.

You must send it by mail or by mail (recommended with acknowledgement) or on site at CFE: titleContent your department (CCI: titleContent for traders, CMA: titleContent for craftsmen).

  • Rural bread tours: a baker with a fixed bakery who also goes on tours with the private
  • Rural grocery store tours: a grocery store that has its own fixed grocery store and also tours the home
  • Home Repair (electrician, telephone, computer, etc.)
  • Home Seller
  • Trade Representative (VRP)
  • Press collector

You are an artist and sell your works on the street

You don't need the travelling business card.

You must have road or parking permit.

You get it from the town hall.
